Located on Chai Talay, the seafront road, Ploen Samut (เพลินสมุทร) is kind of an institution in Prachuap Khiri Khan. It must be one of the oldest restaurants in town, and it’s of course famous for its large choice of seafood. Ploen Samut is especially popular with Thai tourists and it’s not rare to see one or two tour buses parked nearby.
With its large white building and its huge terrace facing the sea, you cannot miss Ploen Samut restaurant especially during week-ends when the place is filled by a crowd of Thai tourists. The menu offers a large choice of typical Thai dishes, actually, it must be one of the most extensive menu you can find in Prachuap. So if you’re already a Thai food expert, it might be the place where you could try something new.
If you’re on a budget, Ploen Samut might not be your first choice, especially since you just need to walk a few meters away to find excellent seafood at a cheaper price. But though it’s on the expensive side, you’ll still pay less here for a nice dinner than in any similar restaurant in Hua Hin or in Bangkok.
And as a matter of conclusion, let me tell you that Ploen Samut means “enjoy life”. Nice name for a restaurant, isn’t it?
