One good reason to visit Prachuap Khiri Kahn (and even to live in Prachuap) is the opportunity to eat the freshest seafood at the cheapest prices. Of course, you’ll find plenty of seafood restaurants on the seafront, and today i will tell you about one of my favorites.
When i first arrived in Prachuap, a few years ago, that place was not a restaurant, it was a fishery. You could go there in the morning and buy what had been fished the night before : hard to get fresher than that !
Now that Prachuap became a bit more touristy, they turned the fishery into a restaurant, and the fish is as fresh as it used to be. Intown Seafood (ครัวอินทาวน์) is the last restaurant when you walk along Chai Talay (the seafront street) heading toward Wing 5.
They open in mid-afternoon, around 4 pm, and close between 10 and 11 pm. You’ll see a large stall full of seafood where you can pick yourself what you will eat, but you can also chose from the menu which has an english version. I recommend you to go there quite early if you want to have a larger choice: the place being very popular, there’s a chance the best fishes will be already gone if you arrive too late.
I won’t recommend you any specific plate, since everything i ate there was excellent, but you should know that they have a specialty : the “herbal fish” (ปลา สมุนไพร, pronounce Plaa Samunpie) which consists in a deep fried fish covered with a mix of finely chopped ginger, cashew nuts, green pepper and fried dried chilies. If you like ginger, just go for it : it’s a real treat.
