Located inside Wing 5, the Prachuap airbase, The Ao Manao Beach Hotel is the perfect choice if you intend to spend most of your time at the beach. This might not be the most gorgeous work of architecture, but it’s something you will quickly forget once you’ll be enjoying the stunning view on Ao Manao bay from your room’s terrace.
Originally, this hotel has been built for the exclusive use of Air Force personnel and their families, but things have changed, and civilians are now welcome. For foreigners it’s still known as Royal Thai Air Force Residence, but actually the name written in Thai language at the entrance: ฟ้าชมคลื่น (pronounce pha chom kuen) means something like “Blue Waves Panorama”, which sounds much more welcoming.
That said, Ao Manao Beach Hotel has a lot to offer. Each room comes with all the facilities: air-con, wifi, TV, fridge, private bathroom with hot water and a nice little terrace to sit and watch the sea. One of the highlight of the place is definitely the large swimming pool where you can chill out while looking at the bay.
You should know that there are 8 differents types of rooms and the pricing is quite a bit complicated. Luckily, we are here to make things clear, just see the table below:
Note that during low season you’ll get an extra 10% discount on the rooms from Sunday to Thursday.
Breakfast is only provided during high season, it’s a classic Thai style buffet, which will cost you 100฿ per person.
There is a lot to do and to see within Ao Mano beach area (more information here and here), so a stay at Ao Manao Beach Hotel can be very relaxing and entertaining. I would especially recommend it if you have children.
One last word: If you’re willing to stay in Ao Manao Beach Hotel, be aware that priority is given to Air Force personnel, so getting a room during week-ends and holidays can sometimes be a bit difficult.
